SANDGATE VERMONT 2008 ZONING MAP UPDATE

The official Sandgate Zoning Map was digitized by BCRC in 1991 from 1:24,000 U.S.G.S. topographic maps. Zoning districts were defined by roads, surface waters and, in a few instances, the approximate location of parcel lines. Distance setbacks from roads were measured with a ruler or map-measuring wheel.

The past 17 years have seen dramatic advances in cartographic technology. Digital aerial photography, satellite imagery, global positioning and more powerful computer hardware and software have greatly enhanced the accuracy of geographic information. These technological advances have been utilized in the creation of the Draft Updated Zoning Map. Although the philosophical intent of the Draft Updated Zoning Map has not changed, the greater accuracy of the map will result in better administration of the Sandgate Zoning Bylaws.
